If you’re looking for affordable quality Queenstown accommodation, then this hostel is a great option!

Both the skyline Gondola and Luge are within 700m of Adventure Q2 Hostel which makes it the perfect location to explore Queenstown and all it offers.

You’ll also find plenty of facilities at this hostel including a shared lounge & kitchen, BBQs, a tour desk and free WiFi. Guests also have access to free bikes which makes it super easy to get around the town.

Not only that, but you can choose from a dormitory bed (that still provides plenty of privacy) or a private room – both of which are clean, tidy, and comfortable as are the facilities.

2. Tahuna Pod Hostel ($)

Tahuna Pod Hostel (officially known as the Sir Cedrics Tahuna Pod Hostel) is another fantastic budget-friendly option.

Situated in the centre of Queenstown, this hostel is just a short walk from bars, restaurants, and shops.

What’s more, it was actually the first pod hotel in New Zealand, offering guests the ultimate privacy with curtains around every built-in bed. These rooms are a great option for people who are keen to try hostels for the first time or those that value a slightly more up-market experience.

The Tahuna Pod Hostel also has plenty of great facilities including a large balcony and BBQ area that offers stunning views of Queenstown. There’s also a large lounge area, a shared kitchen, laundry facilities, and onsite parking too (which can be hard to come by, particularly with budget accommodations)

The Black Sheep Backpacker is easily one of the best budget accommodation options in Queenstown.

Located less than 700 metres from the Skyline Gondola and Luge, this place is perfect for backpackers. They cater to both long-term and short-term guests and are known for their social, friendly atmosphere.

Not only does The Black Sheep Backpackers have the usual facilities, but there’s also a hot tub, sauna, large outdoor area, and ski storage space. Plus they offer free bicycles for guests, a shared kitchen area and computers. All of these facilities result in a great value-for-money stay.

You’ll also find a variety of accommodation options including hostel pods and private rooms.

4. Queenstown TOP 10 Holiday Park ($)

Queenstown TOP 10 Holiday Park offers a tonne of accommodation options including self-contained units, motel rooms, apartments, cabins and parking for your campervan.

Not only that, but this holiday park has plenty of fantastic facilities including a hot tub, a children’s playground (including the famed TOP 10 bouncing pillow), a BBQ area, and a shared kitchen. As with all TOP 10’s, the facilities are top-notch and kept impeccably clean.

This wonderful holiday park is also in a great location as the Onsen Hot Pools are just a 2-minute drive away. It’s out of the hustle and bustle of town, but with Lake Wakatipu just a 10-minute drive away, it’s not too far out. What’s more, they offer a free shuttle service to get you in and out of central Queenstown.

The Best Mid-Range Queenstown Accommodation

5. Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort ($$)

If you’re looking for superb views of Queenstown this is a wonderful option.

Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort is located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Our favourite rooms here are the ones with private balconies and seating area. They’re the perfect place to enjoy a snack whilst relaxing and admiring the scenic vistas!

This resort also has plenty of awesome facilities including a sauna, fitness centre, a tour desk, and a free shuttle service that runs into Queenstown. Or if you’d prefer, it’s just a 2.5-kilometre stroll into town along the lake.

6. Mi-pad Queenstown ($$)

Mi-pad Queenstown is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for mid-range Queenstown accommodation that is both modern and comfortable.

It’s just a 5-minute walk out of town, making it a particularly convenient location.

The hotel itself offers a variety of room choices and facilities. Every room comes with free WiFi, a flat-screen TV, and an ensuite bathroom, whilst some even come with a private balcony. They really do offer everything you need in a mid-range hotel.

However, the highlight of this accommodation has to be the outdoor deck that offers stunning views of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu, and the surrounding mountains. You’ll want to spend some time admiring the views (with a drink in hand) from up there!

The Copthorne Hotel & Resort Lakefront Accommodation is a Queenstown classic.

Located close to the shores of Lake Wakatipu, and offering fabulous views, it is just a 5-minute walk from the town centre.

With spacious rooms and great facilities, it’s a great option, particularly for families.

There are two spa pools at the hotel but the highlight has to be the Impressions Cocktail Bar & Restaurant. It offers spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains so make sure you pay it a visit!

8. Scenic Suites Queenstown ($$)

Scenic Suites Queenstown is just a 5-minute walk from town and is perched upon a hill, offering stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

They have plenty of accommodation options to ranging from superior rooms to two-bedroom apartments. This makes it perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends.

Many of the rooms offer stunning views too so you can simply relax, and enjoy the beauty of Queenstown right from your bedroom.

Luxe Queenstown Accommodation

9. Turner Heights Townhouses ($$$)

If you’re looking for self-contained accommodation then Turner Heights Townhouses is a perfect option.

The apartments are just a 2-minute walk from the town centre. Skyline Gondola, Lake Wakatipu, and Queenstown Bay are also within walking distance.

Guests have access to a tonne of fantastic facilities including a spa pool, BBQ area, on-site parking, and free WiFi.

Many of the apartments also boast stunning views of the surrounding area.

Though the accommodation itself is a little dated, it’s comfortable and homely. And, as they sleep up to six people, it’s one of the best Queenstown accommodation options if you’re travelling as a large group or whānau.

10. Swiss-Belsuites Pounamu Queenstown ($$$)

If you’re looking for a taste of luxury in Queenstown then look no further!

This hotel is situated in a beautiful area and offers stunning views of Lake Wakatipu and the mountains.

There are a variety of studios and suites to choose from, and each one is fitted with a kitchenette, a private bathroom, and air conditioning. Many of the suites also come with plenty of other amenities including a plasma TV, an iPod dock, and laundry facilities. And the rooms benefit from the amazing vistas all around too.

What’s more, Swiss-Belsuites Pounamu Queenstown is just a 10-minute stroll to the town centre and the lake, and with a bus stop right outside, it’s easy to hitch a ride into town if you don’t want to go for a walk.

11. Novotel Queenstown Lakeside ($$$)

Located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, the Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is another local favourite.

They have a variety of rooms to choose from and many of them offer spectacular views of the surrounding area. Whatever room you choose, you’ll be incredibly handy to town. Plus, you’ll enjoy a flat walk in (which is more than can be said for many Queenstown accommodations).

You’ll also have access to plenty of facilities here including a spa pool, a concierge service, a fitness centre, and a restaurant and bar. Plus you’ll have 24-hour room service (yes!) and laundry facilities.

We recommend you try out the on-site restaurant (which serves delicious tapas and has a full buffet breakfast every morning too).

12. Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa ($$$)

Although this hotel is further out from the town centre than many other options in this guide, it has plenty to offer – we think that makes it worth the trip.

The facilities here are world-class and include an indoor pool, fitness centre, a restaurant and bar, and a spa and wellness centre. There’s also an outdoor terrace area that offers stunning views, making it the perfect place to kick back and relax.

Not only that but Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa has a variety of accommodation options available ranging from suites to apartments.

Perched right on the lake (literally, right on the water’s edge!), they offer water taxis to get you in and out of Queenstown – or you can drive/bus if you prefer.

13. The Rees Hotel & Luxury Apartments ($$$)

If you’re looking for incredible views and alpine-inspired luxury, don’t miss out on the Rees Hotel & Luxury Apartments.

Although it’s located out of the city centre, the hotel runs a free shuttle service to the town centre. And with service and accommodation like this, it’s totally worth the short ride or 2.6-kilometre walk (which takes just 30 minutes).

As you would expect, this hotel also has plenty of awesome facilities including a fitness centre, terrace area, and a wine lounge.

If you decide to stay here, then make sure you eat at True South Dining too as the food is delicious and the views are incredible.

This is one of the best places to stay if you’re looking for luxe Queenstown accommodation.

14. QT Queenstown ($$$)

QT Queenstown offers incredible views of Lake Wakatipu and the Southern Alps. However, there’s so much more to this hotel than just that.

With a restaurant and bar, a swimming pool, and a 24-hour front desk you’ll have everything that you could need.

The highlight of this hotel though has to be its rooms! They are modern, spacious, and come with plenty of cool amenities. Many of them even offer stunning views with floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

If you’re looking to treat yourself to a modern hotel with renowned service, this is our recommendation.

15. Kamana Lakehouse ($$$)

Kamana Lakehouse is the definition of luxury. Not only are all of the rooms stunning, but they come with lot of little lovely touches and inclusions, including seating areas, USB ports, bluetooth speakers, and refrigerators.

Some even have floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer scenic views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Kamana Lakehouse has lots of fantastic facilities, but the highlight has to be the Nest Kitchen & Bar (which serves delicious Mediterranean food) and the iconic hot tubs. Though we absolutely love the Onsen Hot Pools, when you stay here, there’s really no need to venture out there.

What’s more, the Kamana Lakehouse is just a 5-minute drive from the centre of Queenstown it’s in a great location if you’re looking for a little peace and quiet without being too far out.
