Our favourite Raglan accommodation – Plan an incredible Waikato getaway
Look for the best Raglan accommodation? We’ve got recommendations for every budget and travel style.
Raglan is a popular spot in the Waikato.
Famed for its relaxed vibe, natural beauty, fantastic dining (and coffee) and relative proximity to both Hamilton and Auckland, it’s no wonder so many people love it there.
Whilst visiting many people enjoy hitting the surf beach (where lessons are available), heading out canyoning or playing a round of golf (complete with sheep on the fairway).
When you’ve finished a busy (or relaxed) day of exploring, you’ll want somewhere comfortable to rest your head — and we’re happy to help you find the perfect spot to do exactly that.
Some businesses are experiencing staffing challenges post-COVID. If you want to guarantee a space at a restaurant or attraction, we suggest pre-booking.

The Cottage by the Sea is a wonderful old-school holiday home in Raglan.
With 3 bedrooms, a living room, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen, this generously sized home is perfect for larger groups. It comfortably sleeps five people across 93 m².
Guests enjoy incredible rural views right across the property and can expect a great sleep thanks to the cottage’s quiet location.
The furnishings compliment the cottage itself, making this the perfect place to create holiday memories with your family.
Great location and very private. Out of the main town close to the main beach with views over the countryside and a glimpse of the wind farm in the distance. The low light pollution and clear sky at night meant we were treated to a delightful experience seeing so many stars and the cloudy outline of the milky way. This was a highlight for our daughter who got to stay up late to do some stargazing. The cottage was cosy, charming, clean, relaxing with comfy beds and just a wonderful homely feel. We loved our short stay here.

Wild Coast Eco Cabins
If you’re keen to disconnect from your devices and reconnect with nature, then we highly recommend a stay at one of the Wild Coast Eco Cabins.
Set on a 120-acre farm, on the western side of Mount Karioi, these cabins enjoy stunning views out over the Tasman Sea.
Both cabins set on the edge of the valley and are surrounded by native bush.
Though they’re off-grid, they provide plenty of essentials including gas cooking, a fridge, lights and hot water. Don’t expect WiFi or power outlets here though — these cabins really are focused on unwinding.
Instead of Netflix, you’ll be entertained by the sound of birdsong and the stars at night. Head out on one of the many walking trails found on the property or join the owners on either a 2 or 3-hour horse trek through native bush or on Ruapuke Beach.
How amazing does that sound?!
1549 Whaanga Road, Ruapuke 3296
Did you know? You’re allowed to take your dogs with you whilst visiting these cabins! There is an additional fee per night and you must have them with you (or tied up) at all times.
8. Windyflax
The smaller of the two Wild Coast Eco Cabins is known as Windyflax. This cabin sleeps 3 people (with one queen bed, and the addition of a fold-out bed).
1549 Whaanga Road, Ruapuke 3296
9. Watersong
The larger of the two cabins, Watersong sleeps 4 people (in one queen bed and one single bed, with the addition of a fold-out bed).

The Raglan Country Retreat is a beautifully converted free-standing barn located on the outskirts of Raglan.
Close enough to town but quietly tucked away on an 18-acre lifestyle block, this unit is surrounded by peaceful farmland — so you’re guaranteed a great night’s sleep.
Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen bed, along with a double futon bed (at the top of the mezzanine floor). You’ll also have use of a fully-stocked kitchenette, a BBQ outside and even herbs and veggies.
Tastefully renovated and decorated, this is the type of accommodation that will stay with you long after you’ve left.
Raglan is a fabulous spot to visit.
The town has such a diverse range of activities and natural attractions and equally fabulous accommodation to match.
