FAQ about skydiving in Abel Tasman
Skydive Abel Tasman has the best safety rating possible – 5 stars. You will be in safe, experienced hands with your tandem master in control.
The entire experience takes between 1.5 and 3 hours (approximately). This varies due to weather and the number of people jumping. We suggest booking in the morning and keeping your schedule as flexible as possible. As Abel Tasman is known for good weather, you’ll generally experience fewer delays here than in some other parts of the South Island.
For safety reasons, skydiving is only guaranteed for those under 100kg/220lbs/15.5 stone. Passengers over 100kg may be able to jump – this decision will be made on the day by your tandem master.
Anyone under 18 years of age must have parental consent to jump. Children under 12 will be evaluated individually – this isn’t to say they can’t jump though – they’ve taken much younger children up for successful jumps.
You cannot take your own photos when skydiving. Selfie sticks are a hazard and jumping with a GoPro is not allowed. The team can organise photos and videos on your behalf though.
We recommend you have a meal before jumping. This can help settle your nerves and prevent motion sickness.
Plan to arrive 15 – 30 minutes before your scheduled time.
Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in. Ensure your shoes will not fall off your feet. You’re able to wear your contacts and glasses as you jump. If you wear false teeth you can choose to keep them in or take them out.
